Magical Ladakh Zanskar

Upon arrival at Leh Airport, our representative will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. Leh is situated at 3,500 meters above sea level, so it is important to rest and allow your body to acclimatize to the altitude. In the afternoon, if you feel comfortable, take a short visit to Shanti Stupa for panoramic views of Leh town and the surrounding mountains. Later, enjoy a relaxed walk through Leh Main Market, exploring local handicrafts, Ladakhi jewelry, pashmina shawls, and cafés. Overnight stay in Leh.

After early breakfast, drive westward along the Leh–Srinagar Highway. Likir Monastery – Known for its giant golden Maitreya Buddha statue. Alchi Monastery – A unique 11th-century monastery famous for its ancient Kashmiri-influenced murals and wood carvings. Lamayuru Monastery – One of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh, dramatically set amidst the famous “Moonland” landscape. Continue your scenic drive along the Indus and Suru rivers towards Kargil. Overnight stay in Kargil.

After breakfast, begin the adventurous journey towards Zanskar Valley. Drive through the beautiful Suru Valley, surrounded by majestic peaks including Nun and Kun. En route visit: Rangdum Monastery – A stunning monastery located amidst vast high-altitude meadows. Rangdum Village – Experience the remote lifestyle of the region. Cross Pensi La Pass (4,400 m approx.), offering views of the Drang Drung Glacier, before descending into Zanskar Valley and reaching Padum, the main town of Zanskar. Overnight stay in Padum.

After breakfast, explore the cultural treasures of Zanskar: Karsha Monastery – The largest monastery in Zanskar, beautifully located on a hillside overlooking the valley. Stongdey Monastery – One of the oldest monasteries in Zanskar, offering panoramic valley views. Zangla Palace Ruins (Zangla Fort) – Historic ruins that once served as the royal residence of Zanskar kings. Return to Padum by evening. Overnight stay in Padum.

After breakfast, drive towards the remote southern Zanskar region. En route visit Gonbo Rangjon, a sacred and dramatic isolated mountain rising from the plains, revered by locals for its spiritual significance. Continue towards Purne Village, a small and remote settlement that serves as the base for visiting Phugtal Monastery. Overnight stay in Purne (basic guesthouse/homestay).

After early breakfast, begin a scenic hike (approx. 1.5–2 hours one way) to the spectacular Phugtal Monastery. Phugtal Monastery is uniquely built into a natural cave cliffside above the Lungnak River. It is one of the most isolated monasteries in Ladakh and offers an unforgettable spiritual and architectural experience. After exploring the monastery and interacting with monks (if possible), hike back to Purne and drive back to Padum. Overnight stay in Padum.

After breakfast, drive back to Leh via Pensi La Pass and Suru Valley, retracing the scenic route. Enjoy stunning landscapes, glacier views, and high mountain passes. Arrive in Leh by evening. Overnight stay in Leh.

After breakfast, transfer to Leh Airport for your onward journey with unforgettable memories of Ladakh’s landscapes, culture, and adventure. Tour ends with beautiful memories of the Himalayas.
